Okatie, SC (April 24, 2015) — Beaufort-Jasper Water & Sewer Authority marks National Drinking Water Week 2015 with its annual Customer Appreciation Day Friday, May 8 from 11 am to 2 pm at the BJWSA Administrative Building, located at 6 Snake Road in Okatie. The Authority will serve complimentary food and drink, as well as offer educational materials, door prizes and a drawing for a grand prize.

This year’s Drinking Water Week focuses on “What do you know about H20?” paying special attention to drinking water quality, efficiency and infrastructure. Local school children were invited to submit posters and essays on the theme, with two high school students winning iPads for their essays, and a middle school student receiving a pizza party for his or her class for the winning poster.

The Authority also celebrates the 50-year anniversary of the Chelsea Water Treatment Plant, which opened May 1, 1965.
