Okatie, SC (Revised October 28, 2015)- Beaufort-Jasper Water and Sewer Authority (BJWSA) is pleased to announce that it has signed an agreement with HomeServe USA to offer an optional protection plan for a customer’s home exterior water and sewer service lines. Many homeowners are unaware that both the water and sewer service lines on their property are their responsibility—not BJWSA’s.
Because such repairs can be costly and unexpected, the Authority wants to provide customers with a trusted option for quality, low-cost service line coverage. BJWSA chose to partner with HomeServe USA to offer service line coverage after a thorough selection process that included a review of their coverage plans and business practices. HomeServe USA uses local qualified plumbing contractors to perform the service work. HomeServe USA has similar partnerships with water utilities across the country.
In exchange for a set-up fee and a 12-percent commission on any service plans sold, the Authority has given HomeServe USA the right to use the BJWSA logo on mailed advertisements. The set-up fee and commissions will be placed in a hardship fund to help those less fortunate customers pay their monthly bills. The fund will be administered by a third party.
Customer information is not provided to HomeServe nor will customer rates be impacted by the agreement. Customers can anticipate receiving advertisements from HomeServe USA in the near future.
