Okatie, SC (October 27, 2011) — Beaufort-Jasper Water & Sewer Authority’s (BJWSA) Board of Directors is revising it s Sewer Use Regulations. The Regulations, first adopted in 1989 and last updated in November 2003, govern the use of BJWSA’s sewer system. The Regulations are intended to ensure that BJWSA’s system is protected from damage and is used by all adjacent residents and businesses in order to realize maximum benefit from this significant public investment. “These revisions do not represent a subs tantial change to our current Sewer Use Regulations,” said Ken Griffin, BJWSA’ s General Manager. “T he mandatory tie-in rules have always been in effect. Essentially, we are cleaning up some confusing language, but we want to allow our custom ers to offer any feedback regarding these updated rules,” Griffin said. The revised Sewer Use Regulations reference BJWSA’s Development Policy and Procedures Manual, the Grease Trap Standar ds and the Industrial Pre-treatment Program. These documents are al so being revised to reflect current regulations and practices. Anyone interested in reviewing the dr aft documents can do so by stopping by BJWSA’s customer service department to re ad a copy. They can also be viewed at www.bjwsa.org/about/newregs/index.htm l. A public hearing will be held on November 17, 8:00 a.m., at BJWSA’s administrative building, and comments can be sent to info@bjwsa.org. BJWSA’s Board of Directors will consider adoption of all four revised documents at their Nove mber 17, 2011 Board meeting.
